Our Story

Hope Church Wollongong is a church that is in its humble start up stage. We have been meeting in homes, cafes, and a motorcycle workshop. We are very excited to announce that we intend to have our first gathering at 11am on 7 September 2025 at JP Galvin Park, Cliff Street Wollongong.

We are family church made up mostly of people that have only become Christians in the last 3 years. Many of our members have had no church background. So, if you are new to the Christian faith or exploring the Christian faith you will feel at home. We are certainly not the perfect church but we love God and want to live out our faith by loving others and being a blessing to our community.

We truly value the presence of God and desires that everyone who attends our gatherings or life groups encounters God for themselves.

Pastors Lionel and Briga Rattenbury

Lionel and Briga Rattenbury are the Senior Pastors of the Church. They have been married 37 years and have 3 daughters, Shona, Lauren, and Emily and 6 Grandchildren. Lionel has plenty of life experience having been a Policeman, Police Prosecutor, Criminal Defence Lawyer, and the owner of a law firm. Lionel and Briga have a deep love for people and desire to see them grow in their faith and be set free from anxiety, depression, and addictions.

Hope Church Wollongong
